This is a common medicinal plant previously called Polygonum chinense. Although the name remains the same in the ITIS database, the Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN) database gives a new name Persicaria chinensis (L.) H. Gross. It appears that the plant was move to a different genus though I cannot find the reference yet on this change.
